The starting salary for this role is £31,273 per annum for a 36 hour working week.

If you feel ready for a new challenge and would like to be part of a developing service that is dynamic and different then this may be the opportunity you have been looking for.

The L-SPA (Learners Single Point of Access) was developed in July 2020 as part of Surrey County Council’s ongoing commitment to transformation and in response to the identified priorities in the Surrey SEND Partnership Strategy.

The L-SPA's work is primarily led by two elements: operational and developmental. From 1st January 2021 the L-SPA took on the Week 1-6 process of the statutory assessment process from receipt of request to final decision making. Request for Assessment is the operational strand of the L-SPA’s remit, however moving forward we will be focussing on developing our Request for Support pathways which will be an exciting area of development requiring innovative approaches embedded in evidence-based practice. We are also beginning the work of merging with our Early Help Hub (C-SPA) which will mean we can work more closely with Social Care colleagues.

The L-SPA team are problem solvers, innovators and above all passionate about delivering the best possible outcomes for children in a timely and supportive way. We work closely with our colleagues to help children, young people and families, to be solutions focussed and take a strengths-based approach to identifying and meeting needs without having to depend on statutory plans. We pride ourselves on being child and young person centred and place great emphasis on our communication standards and the value we can add to the work undertaken by our colleagues and partners.

We are seeking two L-SPA Case Workers to join our operational Triage team which is the heart of the L-SPA work.

The L-SPA Case Workers will:

  • Have excellent knowledge of SEND processes and legislation
  • Be able to manage their own time and prioritise effectively
  • Be able to support our Triage Officers with complex cases
  • Have excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Have a reflective attitude to learning and development and be ready to learn new skills and acquire new knowledge.

At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
