The starting salary for this position is £27,991 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.
The role is based in Merrow, we have teams based in offices across the County and business travel to other offices in Surrey may be required. Out of hours working may be occasionally required. We operate a policy of agile working, which means you may have the option to spend part of your week working from home although this may be flexible based on
business needs. We’re less about you driving to work and more about us
collectively driving down our carbon footprint.
The Business and Leadership Support Team sits within the Planning, Performance and Support Service in the Environment, Transport, and Infrastructure (ETI) Directorate at Surrey County Council. To enable the team to maximise their full potential, we are now looking for another Business Support Officer to join us. This role, along with others already positioned within the team, will be responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support to frontline services across ETI.
To be successful in this role you must have strong Microsoft Office IT experience, excellent
customer service, planning and organisation skills and the ability to multitask. We are looking for someone with a positive and can-do attitude and an eagerness to learn and take on new tasks. Key personal qualities we are seeking include self-motivation, problem solving, ability to use your own initiative when working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment and an interest in continuous improvement to ensure the successful delivery of both the team and wider directorate objectives.
Currently the team consists of four Personal Assistants who support the ETI Directors,
four existing Business Support Officers, and specialist support roles for communications and finance. All team members are expected to work in a flexible and collaborative manner to ensure their colleagues are supported and can deliver a first-class service.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will be varied, and will typically include:
- Organising meetings/events
- Logging & tracking correspondence
- Dealing with Purchase Orders and associated tasks
- Entering and processing data
- Administrative support for HR processes such as recruitment, induction & training
- Preparing agendas and collating documentation for key meetings and minute taking
- Tracking progress against actions
To be considered for interview, your CV and personal statement will need to demonstrate:
- Previous office administrative/business support experience
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills and demonstrable ability to quickly learn how to use other applications
- Ability to effectively prioritise multiple/conflicting demands
- Proactive at problem solving, taking responsibility, and using initiative to resolve issues and deliver to deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
