About the role and the team
This is an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability and Climate Change Officer to join our Parks and Environment Team to help drive forward our ambitious Climate change and environmental agenda.

The Council has made a commitment to be carbon neutral by 2030, and aspires for the District to be carbon neutral by 2045. This position is critical to helping us achieve our ambitions.

Projects you’ll be involved in
The successful candidate will support delivery of key priorities and actions set out in our Climate Change Strategy Action plan. Current projects you will be working on include investment in solar, fleet electrification, and communications campaigns that drive behaviour change.

The role will provide you with an opportunity to work with external organisations, local environmental groups, and other Councils within Surrey on jointly delivered projects and services.

You will also support delivery of the Council’s waste and street cleaning contract by acting as the day to day link between Mole Valley District Council and Joint Waste Solutions who manage the waste and street cleaning contract.

About you

  • To be successful in this role, you will have a good understanding of climate change and the initiatives required to become carbon neutral
  • You will have experience in collaborating with others on project development and delivery, and be able to adapt to change work characteristics

Travel throughout Mole Valley is required in this role, this does not require a driving licence/car as you can travel around by bike or public transport.
