DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT MANAGER

There has never been a more exciting time to join Wirral Council. We are looking for a Development Management Manager to join our Planning Department, where the successful applicant shall lead, manage and develop the development management and enforcement service to ensure it meets its statutory requirements and delivers a responsive, professional, effective and customer focused service.

ABOUT THE JOB

You will act as the council's lead officer to ensure the provision of timely and consistent planning and enforcement advice to various including authorising decisions in accordance with the scheme of delegation. You will lead, develop, implement, and monitor an annual service improvement plan to ensure policies and procedures are in place to deliver a service that responds to current and changing legislation and guidance and operates efficiently and effectively.

You will be responsible for the management of staff and budget of the service including S106 and land charges income to ensure spend and income are correctly accounted for and lead on the financial monitoring of the income received by the service and develop new ways of increasing income.

ABOUT YOU

In order to be considered for this position, you will be a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI) or eligible for membership. You will be educated to a degree level in Town Planning or related discipline and have an excellent understanding of Planning legislation and policy.

You must also have a good understanding of Local authority policies, practices, and current challenges.
