Assistant Tree Preservation Officer
There has never been a more exciting time to join Wirral Council. We are looking for an Assistant Tree Preservation Officer to join our Planning Department.
ABOUT THE JOB
An Assistant Tree Preservation Officer is ultimately responsible for dealing with all minor matters in respect of tree preservation under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (as amended) and associated legislation.
You will also be tasked with processing tree works applications (including assessment and negotiation) and advising to achieve satisfactory outcomes.
Other duties include preparing evidence for TPO appeals, providing arboricultural advice to Planning Officers in relation to domestic and minor planning applications, carrying out assessments of harm and expediency in relation to unauthorised tree works and attending court proceedings as required.
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate will hold a qualification in arboriculture/ tree preservation or a closely related qualification and will have experience of working with trees, preferably withing a Planning Department or other Council department responsible for tree/ woodland management.
Knowledge of the relevant law, Government guidance, policies and practice relating to planning and planning enforcement matters are desirable.
