Rough Sleeping Co-ordinator

This role sits within our Housing Options Team. It is a busy, thriving team which is constantly working towards creating a community free of homelessness.

We provide advice, information and assistance with all housing issues within the Borough. This role will focus on rough sleeping with the aim of reducing and ultimately preventing, rough sleeping within Woking Borough in line with the Government’s intention to end rough sleeping by the end of this parliament.

You will co-ordinate and liaise closely with a number of key partners, stakeholders and services working with people who are sleeping rough, or who are at risk of becoming homeless and sleeping rough, or with a previous history of rough sleeping.

You will provide a main point of contact for all matters relating to rough sleeping in the Borough and work with the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) and other organisations to improve the co-ordination, delivery, effectiveness and impact of rough sleeping services; and provide a strategic overview of rough sleeping in the Borough.

We are looking for someone who can inspire innovation and come up with an inclusive, solution-focused, multi-agency approach that ensures positive and proactive engagement with people who are sleeping rough, or who are at risk of becoming homeless and sleeping rough, or with a previous history of rough sleeping in order to improve their life chances, encourage and support their independence, and achieve positive housing outcomes.

You will have housing related training and knowledge of homelessness legislation and case law, with a special interest in current issues and best practice relating to single homelessness and rough sleeping. An ability to interpret and communicate complex information is essential as is being an adaptable, sympathetic and organised individual. A full driver’s licence is required.

As this job involves contact with vulnerable groups, successful applicants will be required to obtain a Disclosure Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Assistance will be given by the Council and further details will be in the job application pack.
