Remote working to us is a balance of spending time in our communities, our offices and working remotely from home or wherever works best.
The Transition Team, based in Woking or Reigate, is a dynamic and vibrant countywide service for young people aged between 14 and 25. Although we sit in Adult Social Care, our journey with the people we support starts much earlier, at academic year 9. Within Surrey County Council, the Transition Team sits in a unique and favourable position of being able to undertake frontline work across both Children and Adult Services.
Transition Team (Based in Woking or Reigate - You Choose!):
Working in the Transition Team, you will benefit from a rich tapestry of experience. We are remodelling from traditional institutional approaches as we challenge inequalities that prevent young people with disabilities and their carers from living a life free of discrimination and limitations. We work with a wide range of professionals and providers who enable us to look at an individual’s needs holistically and consider our service response from a whole family perspective.
We believe in coproduction and feel passionately that the young person should be firmly in control of their life outcomes. Supporting them through the Preparation for Adulthood agenda, we also ensure that our young people have aspirational goals and targets that will support them into employment pathways, independent living and all other meaningful occupation.
We are looking for people who work with a strength-based approach, are motivated, flexible and who have high professional standards alongside sound knowledge and experience of current legislation. An applied knowledge of The Care Act and The Mental Capacity Act and experience of undertaking safeguarding enquiries is essential, alongside experience of working in complex situations using professional judgement and a range of interventions.
For Social Worker roles you will need to have completed your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) and be registered with Social Work England. We recognise there will be exceptions to this so please speak to us if you are in any doubt.
For Senior Social Worker roles, substantial post qualification professional experience as a Social Worker would also be required. Some experience of providing professional supervision (which can include to unqualified and/or non-professional supervision) would be useful, but we can support your development in this area.
Surrey County Council are currently investing in and building a workforce that can proactively meet the demands and challenges facing Adult Social Care (ASC). Our ASC workforce strategy supports our commitment to manage our talent and build succession plans for key areas, while investing in specialist training and development for our workforce.
Key areas identified are:
- Investing in individual growth and career progression
- Growing workforce supply to meet demand
- Modernising the way we organise and deliver our services
- Ensuring our workplaces and practices are supportive and inclusive
- Continuing to work closely with our partners
With this in mind, we are looking for a range of enthusiastic, dynamic, qualified and registered social work professionals with a variety of skills and experiences. Whether you enjoy duty, long term assessment, varied caseload or D2A work – we want to hear from you!
