The starting salary for this role is £53,918 per annum for working 36 hours per week.
The Infrastructure, Planning and Major Projects division, for the first time, brings planning and infrastructure under one roof at Surrey County Council so that all our work is delivered to the same vision. Our multi-million-pound programme includes improving our town and village centres most in need. The Placemaking team are setting the standards for better street design whilst ensuring thorough local community participation; schemes are developed and designed to the highest possible standards with our focus on greener futures and strengthening the economy, at the heart of everything we do.
As well as working in partnership with external stakeholders, the team collaborates to join up thinking across the Council, combining our efforts where possible to create better places for our communities.
Who are we looking for?
As a Placemaking Specialist, you will be instrumental in the development and delivery of key infrastructure projects that affect Surrey, sometimes led by our external partners. Influencing masterplans and designs for town centres before they reach the formal planning stage can have huge benefits for our communities. Your knowledge of major project developments and experience of influencing various aspects of these projects will be essential, as will your creative and solution focused mindset, able to see past challenges and plan a way forward - how you work will be key to the success of the role.
You will often be representing SCC at a strategic level so although a broad knowledge of planning and transport planning sectors will be key, you will also be comfortable operating at all levels across the organisation; able to constructively challenge existing practice and influence decisions.
The skills and experience you bring are important to us but equally, your values and behaviours will be key to your success in this role. We're looking for people who:
- Have substantial technical knowledge and experience of working in project delivery in the Transportation Sector or infrastructure delivery.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision in the design and delivery of Infrastructure and planning projects.
- Have significant experience of public consultation and negotiation with stakeholders.
- Are innovative thinkers, strong influencers and who can work collaboratively to achieve collective success.
If you share our vision and have the determination, enthusiasm, and ability to create better places then we want to hear from you.
At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.Additional Information
