We are seeking a team player with strong organisational and communication skills (both verbal and written), the ability to manage a varied workload to deadlines and well-developed ICT skills. Experience of working in local government committee or democratic services related work is desirable .You must possess sound judgement, attention to detail and political sensitivity. 

Salary progression beyond £34,474 would be linked to the future attainment of an appropriate qualification.

The Council operates a committee-based system model which means the postholder will have extensive exposure to and interaction with Councillors.

Your role will involve co-ordinating and servicing meetings of Committees and Member Working Parties. Tasks will include preparation of agendas, advising on procedural issues to ensure statutory requirements are met, attendance at evening meetings, as needed, and writing minutes. You will also assist with scrutiny reviews .The role will involve regular contact with, and support to Councillors, and liaison with senior officers, so good interpersonal skills are important.

An attendance allowance is payable for attendance at evening meetings(or TOIL can be given if preferred). The post has been designated as a politically restricted post under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.

Runnymede is currently in a trial of an agile working system which allows staff to work from home two days a week.

The Council has recently introduced a new software system called Mod.Gov for the creation of papers for meetings and familiarity with this system would be an advantage.

Consideration will be given to candidates with transferable skills,preferably in the public sector,which meet the person specification.Full time preferably,but part-time working would also be considered.
