Community Services Operator – Meals at Home

£18,696- £21,347 pro rated per annum (plus £10 allowance per shift at weekends)

Working Pattern –  Saturday, Sunday, – 10:30am – 2:30pm

Monday, Tuesday – 10:30am – 2:00pm

Now more than ever, providing support to the most vulnerable within our Community is a key challenge for Runnymede Borough Council, as we work to support residents to continue to live independently at home.  One of the core Community Services provided in support of this, is our Meals at Home service, delivering a hot lunch time meal and cold tea pack for evenings, to some of the most vulnerable residents of our communities, seven days a week.

We are looking for a committed, reliable and flexible person to join our team, delivering meals using a Runnymede Borough Council vehicle Thursday to Monday each week, working between 10:30am and 2:30pm each day.  This work pattern includes the requirement to work at weekends, for which a shift allowance is paid, in addition to the salary of the post.

You will need to have a full driving licence and able to deliver up to 40 meals per shift, requiring entering and exiting the vehicle on multiple occasions, negotiating flights of stairs etc. within a short space of time.  You will need to be able to communicate clearly with customers and be clear in information you are providing.  In addition, you will act as the eyes and ears for family members and others, checking on the welfare of customers and reporting any noticeable changes or concerns to your supervisor.

Working both as part of a small team and independently when delivering meals, you will need to have a positive, friendly approach, as well as being able to show understanding and empathy to the needs and concerns of those who you support from providing meals.

If you would like further information on this highly rewarding role, please contact Andy Pickering on 01932 425010 or by emailing Andy.Pickering@runnymede.gov.uk.
