The starting salary for this role is £62,363 per annum for working 36 hours per week.

Surrey County Council (SCC) is currently undergoing a transformation, and this is a chance for you to be a part of that journey.

With a portfolio of over 1500 properties, SCC delivers a vast range of services to the residents of Surrey, ranging from Surrey Fire and Rescue Services to the provision of care for the elderly, those with mental health issues, or young people who have had difficult starts in life. SCC has a large rural and countryside estate including farm and country parks as well as the Basingstoke canal, a significant office portfolio, highways maintenance, waste and recycling facilities, and a huge educational estate that is committed to providing lifelong learning for children and adults. In addition, the council has a portfolio of investment and let properties and a pipeline of disposal activity for those properties that are surplus to operational requirements and no longer of use to the council. In short, a substantial estate that is both varied and complex.

Within the Land and Property Service it is the job of the Estates Team, alongside our colleagues in Strategy and Planning, Facilities Management and Capital Delivery, to work with all the individual Services' teams and ensure that we deliver an estate that is ‘fit for purpose’ for their needs, the best possible value for money, and is in line with our environmental targets such as net carbon zero.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of that Estates Team as the Lead Estates Surveyor - Projects, providing strategic advice to the business on the portfolio to shape the future of the estate, working on projects, acquisitions and disposals as well as being involved in the day-to-day operation of the estate. This will also include looking at commercial opportunities that may arise around investing in Surrey to help promote regeneration and growth.

It is a busy environment but a rewarding one – you will lead and assist on key strategic projects that will help improve the lives of the residents of Surrey, whether children, adults with mental health difficulties, or older people.
