Communications and Engagement Officer
Location: Godalming, Surrey (with hybrid working)
Starting salary £32,189 per annum

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a creative, confident and strategic communicator with a can do attitude to join our busy and enthusiastic team.
You will have a broad range of communications skills and experience of building effective and productive working relationships with senior managers, councillors and stakeholders.
This role sits at the heart of the council; you will undertake a wide range of communication and engagement activities, including creating and implementing campaigns, writing press releases and copy for our publications, responding to media enquires, marketing our services, working on events, creating digital and social media content, attending face-to-face pop-up events, facilitating focus groups and supporting internal communication activities.
You need to have an excellent standard of written English, an eye for detail, the ability to work on your own initiative, good project management and organisational skills and a willingness to take personal responsibility to ensure tasks are completed. You will also put your audience at the centre of your work and understand how to use to use data, research and engagement to underpin and evaluate your impact.
You will have a proven ability to work under pressure, excellent attention to detail and understand the challenges of working in a high profile and political environment. Applicants must have a relevant degree and at least two years’ work experience within a communications / engagement/ public relations/ media environment.
