Law Practice Manager
Salary: Up to £54,679

You will already have experience in local government practice and be keen to take on a new challenge. You will have the knowledge and personal skills enabling you to lead a legal team and run a ‘Law Practice’, maintaining the team’s Lexcel accreditation and improving the legal service. You will be confident in the political sphere, too, with the ability to act as Deputy Monitoring Officer and give sound and effective advice to members and officers alike.
We don’t expect you to be expert in all areas of local government law, but familiarity with planning law, information governance or procurement could be useful. Equally important is the ability to understand what works in service delivery, what colleagues and councillors want from us and how we can help them achieve their ambitions. Above all, you will be a confident and respected manager, someone in whom the authority can place trust.
You will have a sound knowledge of local authority legislation and the requirements of modern political arrangements. You will be unafraid of courts and tribunals, and as the role necessitates frequent contact with councillors, officers at all levels and the public, you will need a well-developed sense of political awareness and excellent communication skills.
